#TGIFC491: Sweater Weather

This week's challenge at TGIF Challenges is a theme challenge, perfect for the first week of fall!

 

I've paired a number of different products for my card this week - most notably the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder to mimic a sweater in the background, and the Autumn Leaves Dies to create falling leaves on my card.

 

I've also used our brand new Two Tone Cardstock. This cardstock is a lighter weight than our regular cardstock, and it is printed rather than dyed so the center is white when you tear it. One side is the regular shade of the color, and the opposite side is a slightly lighter shade. I've used Pool Party and Pumpkin Pie and die cut my leaves in both shades to add more interest to my card.

Splendid Autumn Pop-Up Class

I was unable to do my weekly Facebook Live card class today, so I thought I would turn the cards into a fun pop-up class! This will kind of be a mix of the card kits I usually offer with my Facebook Lives and a product-based class.

 

When you purchase this class, you'll get supplies to make 6 cards - 2 each of the 3 designs. All of the cardstock will be cut and prepped for you, including die cuts. You will cut your own Designer Series Paper. You will need to supply your own stamps, inks, and adhesives. Your card kit will include a full package of the Splendid Autumn 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper, a roll of the Wild Wheat 3/8" Rustic Striped Ribbon, and a pack of the Faux Glass Dots (these are currently on the low inventory list, so if they go out of stock I will substitute a different embellishment).

This class is $42 plus $10 shipping. You may add on the Autumn Expressions Bundle and/or the inks I used at the catalog cost. If you choose to add on the bundle, I will include a gift of 5 handmade fall cards in your package!

#GDP415: Patterned Fall Card

The challenge at Global Design Project this week is a theme challenge.

 

I chose to create a pattern with Designer Series Paper. It was a little time-consuming, but I love the result!

 

Can you guess which Designer Series Paper I used? It's an Online Exclusive paper - One Horse Open Sleigh. Of course it's meant as a Christmas paper, but the patterns I chose work well for this fall-themed card.

 

I started with a piece of Basic White cardstock that measured 4" x 5 1/4". I cut 1-inch squares of the Designer Series Paper in half to create my triangles, and then just glued them down until the entire piece of cardstock was covered. Start with the center triangle at the top and work your way out and down. I ended up trimming the entire piece down to 3 3/4" x 5" after I was done.

#GDP369: One More Fall Card

This week's challenge at Global Design Project is a color challenge. Such a pretty combination, don't you think?

 

I thought I was done with fall cards, but the Pumpkin Pie in this combination convinced me to make just one more. Take a look:

 

The Hello Harvest Bundle has been popular this year, and it's easy to see why. The sentiment I used on this card is my favorite in the set, and I just love the flowers that fit right on top of the pumpkin!

 

A few more details:

• I used the Deckled Rectangles Dies to cut out the white piece. These are quickly becoming one of my favorite die sets!
• I colored a few Adhesive-Backed Seasonal Sequins with my Dark Balmy Blue Stampin' Blends Marker. The color stuck just enough to create a perfectly matched embellishment!

#TGIFC390: Fall Sketch

This week's challenge at TGIF Challenges is a sketch challenge.

 

I played along with the Fond of Autumn Bundle, and this card has all of the fall colors I love!

 

The large floral image in the Fond of Autumn stamp set is so fun to color! I used a combination of Cajun Craze, Pale Papaya, and Pumpkin Pie on the leaves, and So Saffron for the flowers. I stamped the large floral image, and then die cut with the large die that cuts the image into pieces. I also did a little more snipping to use just the pieces I wanted to fit around my focal point.

 

Don't you just love those embossed leaves?! The Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder is a hidden gem in the catalog!

#GDP359: Go to Your Happy Place

This week's challenge at Global Design Project is a theme challenge. 

 

I don't know about you, but I love fall! Well, maybe I love the idea of fall. Here in Arizona it's still topping 100 degrees... I had a fun idea to use the This Birthday Piggy Bundle for my card, and it came out just how I wanted!

 

The leaves are a die in the Playful Piggy Dies set that is part of the Perfect Partners Promotion going on this month. Boy, that's a tongue twister! I simply cut a bunch of the leaves apart to create my fall scene.

Beauty of Friendship Card Class

Fall is coming, and I have a beautiful fall-themed class to share with you today! It features the Beauty of the Earth Suite, and after working with it, I think this is one of the prettiest suites in this year's catalog. Here's a peek at the cards:

 

In this card class through the mail, you'll make 12 cards featuring Stampin' Up!'s Beauty of the Earth Suite. The class kit will include a half package of Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper, a Baker's Twine Essentials Pack, a package of Sequins for Everything, and the cardstock and envelopes to create your cards. You'll also receive a PDF tutorial with the instructions for assembling the cards.
You will need the Beauty of Friendship Bundle to complete your cards. Option #1 includes this bundle (stamp set & dies). Stitched Leaves Plaid Card

Wow, it's been a month since I last shared a card with you! Let me explain... as you might have gathered from my blog name, I do a lot of my stamping while my kids are napping/having quiet time. My 2-year-old decided a few weeks ago that she was done with naps, but she definitely doesn't have the attention span to sit and watch a movie like her older siblings. So... I am figuring out how to still get my work done and not neglect my mom duties. It's a work in progress.

The card I have to share with you today is one that I started working on a few weeks ago. See the correlation? Haha! I used the Plaid Tidings paper as my starting point, and drew my color combination from there. Take a look:

 

 

Cherry Cobbler, Melon Mambo, and Seaside Spray are not colors I would have put together on my own, but this pattern was one of my favorites in this paper stack, and I ended up loving this combination!

 

The Seaside Spray ribbon threads are from the Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon. All I did was pull the threads out of the ribbon for a more delicate look.

Gather Together Pocket Card

I have been wanting to try a pocket card for a long time, so I challenged my team to make one. Of course I had to make one too!

Pocket cards are kind of fun, and not that hard to put together. I watched this video from Wendy Cranford to get some measurements and instructions. And the color combination came from a challenge in my business training group. (Talk about killing a lot of birds with one stone!)

Season of Thanks

Today I am sharing one of the swap cards I made for a Holiday Catalog swap I was involved in recently. I used two more patterns from the Come to Gather DSP. I just love these polka dots!

Notice the sequins? I pulled the Pretty Peacock sequins out of the Woven Threads Sequins - these are my go-to embellishment - they are just so pretty!

The punch I used for the sentiment is called the Story Label Punch. It's a great staple to have in your collection. I also used the Gather Together Bundle - I'll be featuring this soon!

Thinking of You Fall Card

The Come to Gather DSP is so pretty for fall, and it was the starting point for this card. My color combination was a blend of Merry Merlot, Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake, and Very Vanilla. I don't use Very Vanilla often, but it was the perfect fit this time!

I also pulled out the Colorful Seasons stamp set. This one has been around for a few years, but it has the prettiest fall leaves, especially in the coordinating dies! For this project, I simply stamped the leaf outline. I thought it coordinated with the DSP, and knowing Stampin' Up!, that was probably intentional!

This paper has so many pretty patterns. Come back on Thursday to see another card featuring this paper!

Thinking of You with a Grateful Heart

The Falling for Leaves Bundle is so beautiful, with the intricate leaf dies and the heartfelt sentiments in the stamp set. I definitely need to do more creating with this stamp set before fall is done! Today's card is CASEd from Erica Cerwin. (Now that I'm searching for it, I can't find her post, but I know this card came from her!) I changed just a few small things. The full supply list is below.

Turn your Buffalo Check into plaid by using a ruler and Stampin' Write Markers. I sure hope this background stamp sticks around!

#TGIFC133 Fall Sketch

I have been a little absent here lately. Sorry about that! I am back today to share one more fall card. This one is the card I made for my husband for Thanksgiving, and I used the sketch challenge over at TGIF Challenges to put it together. Here's the sketch:

I stayed pretty true to the sketch, but that little shape in the corner really stumped me for awhile! I like how it turned out in the end. What do you think?


I also tried a new-to-me technique on this card - heat embossing with regular ink. It's a very subtle addition, but I like the shine it adds! It is hard to capture in a photo, but I tried. The key to this technique is to immediately add your embossing powder after you stamp. The ink needs to be wet to hold the powder. So for my sentiment, I stamped in Early Espresso ink, then added Clear Embossing Powder. A little heat, and voila!

Fall Notecard for #TGIF129 Challenge

Have you ever had one of those days where you are just a step behind on everything? We had friends visiting for the past week, and it was so great! But I am low on sleep, and my brain is taking the brunt of it. I forgot to brush my daughter's hair this morning. I went to the store for milk and bread, and forgot the milk. I created an awesome card for the TGIF Challenge this afternoon, and then went to load it only to discover I was a day late. Oops. I think going to bed early tonight is a must!


Since I am kind of in love with this card, I'm going to share it with you anyways. Here is the sketch that inspired it:

I am still loving all things fall, even though the temps here are continuing to creep towards 100 every day. So I'll have a few more fall projects to share with you, and then I promise we'll get to Christmas!
