To a Wild Rose Card

Today's card was one of the cards we made at my card class last weekend. It was CASEd from our demonstrator magazine, Stampin' Success. In the magazine, there were three versions of the card - one each for the beginner, casual, and avid crafter. I kind of mixed the three together, and one of the ladies at class dubbed it avid plus, haha! It was not the simplest card (I usually try to keep my card class cards pretty simple), but they all loved it.

We used the Stamparatus to line up the three flower images. This is a three step stamp - you get the shading and coloring without having to actually color! But it can be a pain to line up the stamps, especially if you are making more than one card. So I lined everything up on the Stamparatus ahead of time, and it worked perfectly. Until my Daffodil Delight ink pad ran out of ink, that is. I always advise my customers to purchase the ink refill with their ink pads, but do I follow my own advice? No. I always think - I could use that $3.75 and buy a stamp set instead! Because we all know a stamp set is the same price as an ink refill...

One of my favorite things on this card is the Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon. Have you used it yet? I hadn't, and I really like it! Thanks for stopping by today - stay tuned for some brand new Holiday Catalog projects next week!

Waterfront Beach Card

The inspiration for today's card comes from June's Paper Pumpkin kit. I will admit I haven't put mine together yet, but I love the beach theme and the color combination! I used that as my inspiration for this card.

I thought that the High Seas 3D Embossing Folder was a perfect fit for this beachy card, and I finally figured out the correct sandwich in my die-cutting machine for the new embossing folders. Thank you, YouTube! The new style of folders is slightly thinner than the old Sizzix ones, so you need to use the new blue 3D Embossing Folder Plate with them. I am using my Big Shot, so my sandwich was the regular platform on the bottom, then the embossing folder, then the blue embossing plate.

Easy! When I tried using a 3D folder a few weeks ago, I must have tried every other possible way except for that one. Oh well, now I know, and you do too!

Here's a close up of the embossing. I can think of a few other stamp sets that this would work great with!

Stamps: Waterfront
Ink: Sahara Sand, Early Espresso, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay
Paper: Sahara Sand, Coastal Cabana, Whisper White
Embellishments: Linen Thread
Tools: High Seas 3D EF, Rectangle Stitched Dies, Stitched Shapes Dies, Die Cutting Machine
Adhesives: SNAIL, Stampin' Dimensionals

#tgifc224 Sketch Challenge

Yesterday on Facebook, I shared these backgrounds I made with Pigment Sprinkles. I promised that I would share projects using them soon, so here is the first one!

I used another sketch challenge to get started, this time over at TGIF Challenges.

And of course I had to start with the Gorgeous Grape piece - purple is my favorite! There's also a Holiday Catalog sneak peek on this project. Can you spot it?

If you guessed those Coastal Cabana rhinestones, you're right! There is a new set of colored rhinestones, and I LOVE them! I cut a piece of my Gorgeous Grape background out with the Stitched Nested Labels Dies, and the stamps come from the Free as a Bird stamp set. Buy the dies and stamps together in a bundle at a 10% discount! Even if birds aren't your thing, the sentiments and flowers in this stamp set are pretty.

I think my favorite thing about this card is the color combination - Gorgeous Grape, Whisper White, Pool Party, and Purple Posy. I hope it inspires you to create something of your own!

Stamps: Free as a Bird
Ink: Gorgeous Grape, Memento Black, Light & Dark Pool Party Stampin' Blends, Dark Purple Posy Stampin' Blends

Back to School Dino Treats

I am sending two kiddos to school this year - 2nd grade and kindergarten - and of course I had to make some little gifts for the teachers.

The cakes are Little Debbie birthday cakes. Last year, they had some Back to School cakes, but I didn't see any, so we went with these since they had primary colors. It reminded me of school, anyway. I pulled from the colors of the sprinkles and used Pacific Point, Real Red, Call Me Clover, and Daffodil Delight as my color palette.

I put each treat in a 6 x 8" Cello Bag, folded it in half, and taped to hold it. Then I wrapped a band of 1 1/2 x 6" DSP from the Brights stack around the treat, and stapled it to hold it. When I've done treats like this before, other adhesives just don't hold up, but a good ol' staple will! I think the dinosaurs will put a smile on everyone's face, and that's a great way to start the school year!

Stamps: Dino Days
Ink: Call Me Clover, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Real Red
Paper: Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Brights 6 x 6" DSP
Embellishments: Call Me Clover 1/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, 6 x 8" Cello Bags
Tools: Dino Dies, Die Cutting Machine, Starburst Punch, 2" Circle Punch
Adhesives: SNAIL, Stampin' Dimensionals, Glue Dots, Tape, Stapler

#GDP202: Woven Threads Card

It's time to design for my monthly card class, and I love a good sketch to get me started! The Global Design Project has a sketch challenge this week, so I decided to play along.

I used the Woven Threads DSP and sequins, and Itty Bitty Greetings seemed perfect for adding a small sentiment. Those who attend my class will have the option of switching out the sentiment and the DSP to make the card their own.

Those Woven Threads Sequins are just so pretty!

I hope you like my card, and there is plenty of time left if you'd like to play along with the challenge too!

Stamps: Itty Bitty Greetings
Ink: Terracotta Tile
Paper: Whisper White, Terracotta Tile, Woven Threads DSP
Embellishments: Terracotta Tile Scalloped Linen Ribbon, White Baker's Twine, Woven Threads Sequins
Adhesives: SNAIL, Stampin' Dimensionals, Glue Dots

Purple Posy Balloon Card

Happy Friday! Today's card is the other card I created for the swap I participated in earlier this summer. I realized that I never shared it here, and I wouldn't want you to miss out on this pretty card!

I used one of my favorite new stamp sets, Above the Clouds, and another favorite - purple! I combined Highland Heather ink with Purple Posy paper, and those beautiful Woven Threads Sequins. Add in the Stitched Shapes Dies and the scalloped border from the Seasonal Layers Dies, and you have a card full of my favorite things!

Stamps: Above the Clouds

#tgifc223: Blessed to Be Your Friend

This week's TGIF Challenge is a color combo that includes some of my favorite colors, so of course I had to play along!

I also did some heat embossing, for the second time this week! Funny story - when I was making this card this afternoon, I was working on my kitchen counter. The fan was blowing, and I'm sure you think you know where this story is going. No, the embossing powder didn't blow all over the place. I successfully embossed my sentiment, set it down, and the cardstock blew right into the butter dish! Yep, I had to do it a second time. Third if you count the first one that smudged a little. Being a perfectionist in crafting sometimes makes a project take waaaay longer than it should! But I am so happy with the end result, so it was worth it!

I used a few new products on this card. The Scripty embossing folder is probably my favorite out of the new embossing folders this year. I tried to use it with our new blue embossing plate, but in my die cutting machine, that sandwich was actually too thick. I tried a variety of different things, but finally ended up running it through with several additional sheets of cardstock. I will have to play with it some more and figure out what works best.

I also used the To a Wild Rose stamp set. This one is just beautiful all the way around!

Do you have any funny crafting stories to share? Comment and let me know!

In Color Club Cards: August

Today I am sharing with you the cards I made for my In Color Club this month. I used the Modern Heart stamp set, one of my favorites!

Here's a close up of each color.

Terracotta Tile

Rococo Rose

Purple Posy

Seaside Spray

Pretty Peacock

I even used Purple Posy ink for the first time! Stampin' Up! has had some quality issues with this ink, so it has been unavailable. They have let us know that they finally have the issues worked out, so it should be available soon! But here is a workaround - the Purple Posy Stampin' Write Marker IS available, and I used it to color my stamps. I can't believe I didn't do this sooner! I am loving the purple! Which color is your favorite? Comment and let me know!

Stamps: Modern Heart
Ink: Terracotta Tile, Rococo Rose, Purple Posy, Seaside Spray, Pretty Peacock
