Today I am sharing a card inspired by this week's TGIF Challenges sketch challenge.
The stripes in the sketch immediately made me think of the striped silver foil pattern in the Feels Like Frost DSP pack. So I started there, and here's what I came up with:
I really like the color combination of Purple Posy, Night of Navy, Whisper White, and Silver, don't you? To create that look with the Silver Thread, wrap the thread around four fingers a number of times. Pinch in the middle to create a bow of sorts, then attach with a glue dot.
I also did a second card with different patterns in the package. This one is just a little simpler because I left off the thread and twine.
Which version do you like better? Both cards are pretty simple, but that paper makes them special. Add it to your next order so that you can make easy and beautiful Christmas cards too!

Today's card has a lot of my favorites - my favorite color (purple), black and white, and polka dots! We made this card at one of my recent card classes. It's pretty simple, but the Botanical Butterfly paper makes it really beautiful!
Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather are the perfect purple combo, and of course I had to add a few rhinestones to finish off the card!

Flowering Desert is my favorite stamp set in the new Occasions Catalog! I am using it to slowly make desk calendars for my customers. I followed the template Erica Cerwin uses - a piece of 4 1/4 x 11" cardstock, folded in half. Then add a piece of 4 x 4" cardstock scored at 1/2", 2", and 3 1/2". That piece just adds stability and helps the calendar stand up better. On this calendar, I used our Thick Whisper White cardstock, which I think works really well! The calendar is from Taylored Expressions.
You might also notice the shiny paper I used on the scalloped oval. That is the Grapefruit Grove Foil Paper, one of the Level 1 Sale-A-Bration choices. It is seriously shiny! I also used the Gingham Gala Adhesive Backed Sequins. Although these are both Grapefruit Grove, I thought the shine gave them more of a pinkish hue, so I went with Flirty Flamingo for the ribbon and the sentiment. I love how Stampin' Up! stuff always matches!

This week, I will not be late in participating in this challenge! The challenge at TGIF Challenges this week is a theme - sweater weather. I've had this fall scrapbook page in my head for awhile, and of course I used all of my favorite fall products to create it!
What do you think? These pictures are from a visit to the pumpkin farm last fall. We're planning to go again this year, but it just won't be the same when it's still close to 90 degrees outside...

Today's card is a really special one. It is for my father-in-law, who will be retiring at the end of this month. He has been a pastor for 39 years, and my pastor for the past four. Yesterday our church had a special service for him, and at the end of the month, my in-laws will be moving 7 hours down the road. What makes this transition really hard is that for 10 1/2 of the last 12 months, they lived with us. They only recently moved back into their own house.
While I can't share the reasons why they were living with us, I will say that it was challenging and stressful at times. It was also a wonderful time when my kids got to wake up and eat breakfast with their grandparents, or play with them in the backyard, or say bedtime prayers together. What would have been impossible for many people actually worked pretty well for us.
So this is a time of transition. Time to get used to living in our own house again. Time to get used to parents/grandparents living more than a 20-minute drive down the road. Time to pray for a new pastor who will shepherd our church as well as my father-in-law did.
I hope this card is special enough to convey the feelings of appreciation and love that we have for him. Let me know what you think!
