Simply Stars Congratulations

If only you could see how I sometimes frantically run around making cards during naptime (like I did today), you would understand the messiness of the greeting on this card. But I decided to leave it, for now, to show that I am human and don't get it right the first time all the time. I will have to come up with some fix before I give this card at the end of the month for a graduation, but the rest of the card I am really happy with!

As promised, this is a tweak of Monday's card. I love how the gold embossing turned out on the stars, and that cool background paper. Where did the background paper come from, you ask? It's washi tape! The Watercolor Wonder washi tape is one of my favorites from the Occasions Catalog, and here is another way to use it. It was super simple to line it up, and it only took about 3 strips to cover the paper.

 

It's time to run off frantically again - I have about 20 other things on my to-do list during naptime today. I hope you enjoyed today's card, and don't forget to pick up those retiring items that you want - they're selling out fast!

Last night was the 2014-2015 Annual Catalog Premiere for demonstrators. I was unable to go, but I've seen snippets of some of the new things, and I LOVE all of them! It will be hard to choose when I get to preorder some products on Thursday! I will leave you with a little sneak peek though... the names of the new in colors! Drum roll.... they are Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow, and Tangelo Twist. And they are gorgeous! I can't wait to get them and start using them! Look for more tidbits about the new catalog as I see more of it.

Happy Birthday Stars

Today's card is CASEd from the lovely Dawn Tidd. I enjoy looking at her blog for ideas, and when she posted a card like this not too long ago, I knew it would be perfect for a few masculine birthday cards. It showcases the retiring Simply Stars stamp set, which is already sold out. I was lucky to order mine in time! If you have the set, this is a quick, easy card. I'm planning to make another version or two to use as graduation cards, so stay tuned for those in the future!

Blessed Easter

A little late, but today I have an Easter card for you to enjoy. It's taken me awhile to get it just right. I don't generally send Easter cards, but one of my good friends does, and she is always so on top of sending cards for the holidays. One day, when my kids are grown, maybe I will be better at it too. Michelle, this one is for you, and thank you for all the cheer you send with your greeting cards.

 

 

As you can see, there are a few 3D elements on this card. I stamped twice, cut out the flowers, and popped them up with a dimensional. I've seen this technique on other cards, and I really like it here! The butterflies also pop off the page, held in place by a few glue dots. I love this stamp, and I've seen many uses for it besides just Easter. Just ink the tulip portion of the stamp, and add another greeting for a completely different card!

Love You to the Moon

It's Friday! And oh my, has it been a long week. After both my kids had the stomach flu, my daughter immediately came down with a nasty head cold - drippy nose, terrible cough, the whole works. We're trying to keep my son healthy because he has surgery scheduled on Monday - nothing major - but you still want to be healthy if you're being put under. My wonderful husband has worked from home a few days this week to help me out. The card I'm showing you today would be perfect to give him as a little thank you or just because note. (I actually gave it to him for Valentine's Day.) If I had any energy left, I'd make him another card, but every bit of energy I had is gone.

 

 

Where did those little hearts come from, you ask? I colored the little heart on the 'Hello... you're on my mind' stamp from the Love You to the Moon set, and then lined it up with my Stamp-a-ma-jig to create my own take on the Fresh Prints paper. Cool, huh?

Project Life Meets Stampin' Up!

Stampin' Up! announced this morning that they will be partnering with Project Life and introducing a new line of products. I am very excited about this announcement! Although I have not used Project Life before, I love the ideas behind it, and I can't wait to see what the two companies come up with together! A complete line of Project Life products will be available in the 2014-2015 catalog, but a selection of products will be available on May 1. Don't they look awesome?!?




If May 1 is too far away, there is a way to get these products a little bit sooner. Demonstrators will be able to purchase them starting on April 21. That's less than a week away!
