#TGIFC561: Giving You a Big Smooch

Valentine's Day is coming up soon, and I decided I had better get to making the cards I need! This week's challenge at TGIF Challenges to use embossing powder gave me a starting point for my card.

 

I created this Valentine's Day card for my youngest daughter. She loves to give me a big, wet kiss every night at bedtime, so this sentiment and the cute bear from the Valentine Kisses stamp set are perfect for her! I paired them with the heart outline stamp from the Endless Love stamp set. This heart was embossed in gold multiple times on Watercolor Paper, then watercolored with Strawberry Slush and Bubble Bath ink. I love a good watercolor resist!

 

I've also embossed my sentiment. The card is finished off with a few extra touches of gold in the mat behind my background piece and the ribbon, as well as my favorite new embellishment - the Pearlized Faceted Circles.

I am playing along by using my favorite sheet in the Lovely Garden Designer Series Paper pack. This paper is gorgeous, and I would definitely consider it "bold" with the dark background and pops of bright flowers.

#TGIFC498: Let it Snow

It's a sketch challenge at TGIF Challenges this week, and I love it!

 

I've used some products from the Snowy Scenes Suite Collection to create my card.

 

Isn't that little snow globe cute?! It's cut right out of the Designer Series Paper. The paper in this suite is so fun - there are classic Christmas colors and images, along with a few unexpected colors. Plus I always love it when Stampin' Up! has images that can be die cut right out of the paper!

#TGIFC446: Polar Bear Christmas

Where do you find inspiration for card-making? I always find that a card sketch is a great place to start! If you're looking for some creative inspiration this week, make sure to check out the sketch challenge at TGIF Challenges. There's still time to play along!

 

I used the Beary Cute Bundle for my card. I used the sketch as my starting point, but turned the middle panel on its side.

 

This bundle is so much fun to play with. There are three adorable polar bears to stamp - and one of them even fits the coordinating punch! There are also a good number of smaller stamps in the set that you can use to create more of a scene: gifts, a tree, snowflakes, and a scarf and hat for the polar bears. Add in a few wintry sentiments, and this bundle is a must have!

What would you do with a navy background? That's the challenge at TGIF Challenges this week!

 

I decided to use the Little Monkey stamp set and then picked a few colors that I think work well with Night of Navy - Lemon Lolly and Calypso Coral. 

 

Do you like cutesy animal stamp sets? I am always drawn to them, and this one is adorable! I love the little heart image in the stamp set, and it fits right into this swinging monkey's arms.

#GDP395: Happy Birthday, Dad!

The challenge at Global Design Project this week is a theme challenge: birthdays. We all need lots of birthday cards, right?! Make sure you check out all of the entries over on their blog for lots of birthday inspiration.

 

I combined two stamp sets for this challenge: the Gone Fishing stamp set and the Waves of Inspiration stamp set.

Creation Station: Dots & Spots

 

Hello, and welcome to this month's Creation Station Design Team blog hop! Our theme this month is Dots & Spots. 

 

I suggested this theme because I love polka dots, and I can't wait to see what everyone has created this month. For the "spot" part of the theme, I was thinking animal spots, so I've incorporated both dots and spots into my card.

 

For the dots in my background, I used the Gold Celebrations Specialty Designer Series Paper and the Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper. 

 

Here's a fun tip: that Gold Celebrations paper can be flipped over, and it's silver on the other side! 

 

For my spots, I used the Zany Zoo Bundle. This is one of my favorite bundles in the new catalog - it's so playful and fun!

#GDP389: Rainy Day Hello

Another day, another color challenge! This one is from Global Design Project.

 

I've had the Playing in the Rain Bundle out all week, so it was an easy choice as my starting point. I paired it with the Conversation Bubbles Bundle for a different sentiment.

 

A few other details:

• The paper in the background is the Tea Boutique Designer Series Paper. I love this one because it includes all of the 2022-2024 In Colors!
• I stamped off for a lighter shade of Tahitian Tide on the clouds.
• The Raindrops Embossing Folder is the perfect backdrop for that fox with his umbrella.
• Who knew?! Pumpkin Pie is a great fox color!

#TGIFC415: Rainy Days

Color challenges are so much fun, but this one was a bit of a challenge for me! Check out the colors in this week's TGIF Challenges color challenge:

 

I love bright colors, and Bermuda Bay is one of my favorite colors, but this combination just isn't one I would typically use. I think it turned out ok though!

 

I pulled out my Watercolor Pencils to color the image. This particular set includes all three of the colors in the challenge, so it was perfect! You can use these pencils as is, or use a Blender Pen or Water Painter to smooth out the color. I used a Water Painter here.
