#TGIFC415: Rainy Days

Color challenges are so much fun, but this one was a bit of a challenge for me! Check out the colors in this week's TGIF Challenges color challenge:

I love bright colors, and Bermuda Bay is one of my favorite colors, but this combination just isn't one I would typically use. I think it turned out ok though!

I pulled out my Watercolor Pencils to color the image. This particular set includes all three of the colors in the challenge, so it was perfect! You can use these pencils as is, or use a Blender Pen or Water Painter to smooth out the color. I used a Water Painter here.

Here is a full list of products used on this card (note: some of these are retiring and have already sold out).
Stamps: Playing in the Rain
Ink: Stazon Black
Stampin' Blends Markers: Dark Daffodil Delight

Facebook Live: Lovely Lattice Card

Today's card is a little piece of spring. In my part of the country, our peach and apple trees are starting to leaf out and blossom, and I have some flowers waiting to be planted. Spring is definitely in the air! I know that's not the case for some of you, so I hope this card reminds you that spring is coming! Eventually.

I used Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen to color the flowers. I stamped a second time, fussy cut a few of the flowers, and added them with Stampin' Dimensionals. The picture gives you an idea, but in real life it adds so much to the card!

If you'd like to see how I put this card together, you can check out today's Facebook Live.

Stamps: Lovely Lattice, Butterfly Gala
Ink: Tuxedo Black, Night of Navy
Paper: Crumb Cake, Night of Navy, Whisper White
Accessories & Tools: Watercolor Pencils - Calypso Coral and Old Olive, Blender Pens, Night of Navy Baker's Twine

2018 Word of the Year: Bloom

Wow, it has been since November that I last blogged! Well, it is a new year, and time for a new start.

I thought a good place to start this year would be a post about some of my goals for the year, and the "word of the year" I've chosen. For the last couple of years, I've had a word in mind, but I've never shared publicly. That word was THRIVE. Then 2017 happened. We moved - kind of unexpectedly, we lost a baby to miscarriage, my oldest started kindergarten, and I experienced a hard first trimester of a thankfully healthy pregnancy. And those are just the big things. It was a year of big changes, adjustment, and the word of the year kind of turned into SURVIVE.

So this year I wanted to choose a different word. Maybe some of you have heard the phrase "bloom where you are planted." I thought this was fitting especially because I have not always been content with where I have been "planted." It is a reminder that God puts you in the place where you are for a reason, and with His help, you can do great things! So my word for this year is BLOOM.

I am still using the Love Today Planner, and I wanted to make a page to go in the front with the word BLOOM.

I used the Brushwork Alphabet stamp set, the flowers from the Wood Words stamp set, plus a few accessories from the brand new Sweet Soiree Embellishment Kit. I colored the flowers with Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen.

I hope this reminder helps me focus on my goals for this year: first and foremost to take care of my family. God has placed me in a season of life where my husband, children, and home need the majority of my attention, and I want to do my best to fulfill that role. Second, I have long hoped to be chosen for Stampin' Up!'s Artisan Design Team. Instead of focusing on building a business this year, I will focus on making cards and projects to share on my blog. That's it. Two major goals for the year. I have loved reading the goals of my family and friends on social media over the last few days, and I'd love to know what your goals for the new year are, too!

Welcome to the World!

I don't know about you, but I am in the stage of life where people I know are having babies. Two baby boys were born in our circle of family and friends in the last week and a half, and I thought it was the perfect excuse to use the Little Cuties stamp set!

I used a mix of new and old products on this card - from the Stitched Shapes Framelits to the Happy Happenings stamp set to the brand new Copper Trim, they are all must haves! Speaking of that Copper Trim, here's a close up:

You'll be able to get your hands on that June 1, but both stamp sets I used on this card are retiring, so make sure you order those soon! If you'd like to see what else is coming in June, please take my short survey and request a catalog. I will be sending them out in the middle of May, and I would be happy to send you one too! (Plus, anyone who takes the survey will be entered to win an ink pad of your choice!)

What else have I been up to lately? I'm glad you asked! I am continuing to organize my new crafting space, and I was able to purchase my very first Stamp 'n' Storage organizers. I am in LOVE with them, and can't wait to order more!

If you are in the market for some craft organization, you can use my referral link and get a 10% discount on your first purchase. I highly recommend this company, and the organizers fit perfectly in my IKEA Kallax shelf!

Here is a complete list of supplies used on today's card:
Stamps: Little Cuties, Happy Happenings
Ink: Tuxedo Black, Pear Pizzazz
Paper: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz, Watercolor Paper
Accessories & Tools: Brights Enamel Dots, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Big Shot, Copper Trim, Watercolor Pencils, Aquapainter

Noah's Ark Baby Card

A few weeks ago, I was invited to a baby shower for my husband's cousin and his wife. They live in Minnesota, so I couldn't go to the shower, but I wanted to send them a little gift and card anyways. When I saw the shower invitations, I immediately knew which stamp I wanted to use. Unfortunately, it is retired, but I included lots of current product. You could easily substitute your favorite baby stamp and leave the layout the same.

I used the Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen to color the image, and it was so much fun! Coloring takes me back to my childhood. Maybe that's why it has become such a craze lately. The Watercolor Pencils have been a hot item so far, but they are currently available, so snatch them up! I'm hoping for an even larger selection in the new Annual Catalog because they are such great coloring tools!

I'll be going live on Facebook this Friday afternoon at 1:00 PM (MST) to share a few projects using Sale-a-bration items. Make sure to stop by my Naptime is Stamptime group and check it out!

Stamps: Two by Two (retired)
Ink: Basic Black
Paper: Crumb Cake, Tempting Turquoise, Shimmery White
Accessories & Tools: Watercolor Pencils, Blender Pens, Brights Enamel Dots, Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack (silver), Sparkle EF, Lots of Labels, Framelits, Big Shot
